I've made this elegant and sculptural tree from walnut wood, with many elegant branches for hanging necklaces and bracelets. The beautifully contrasting oak base is a dish that holds earrings, rings and other accessories. I cut each tree and finish it with Danish oil to show off the wood grain. I've left the oak base natural for contrast—and because I really like the color of red oak. Each piece is protected with several coats of lacquer to protect it and to make it shine. I spend a lot of time searching for quality woods that not only look great but will stand up to the test of time, looking better and better every passing year. Many jewelry stands on sites like Amazon or Ebay are made from cheap softwoods that are easily dinged and dented and cheaply stained. I want my items to be things that you look forward to seeing and using every day.
