The WEB is a convenient, functional and professional means to secure most patients to backboards, scoop stretchers, and stokes litters. The WEB system consists of a complete, one piece strap constructed of an adequate amount of webbing and hook and loop material to secure most patients. The WEB has a center spine with "V" neck straps at the top, three adjustable torso straps and, extending down from the spine, a foot restraint strap that may be used to secure the feet from rocking and causing additional pelvic or leg injury. TO APPLY THE WEB: 1. Loosen the securing strap and allow the WEB to open. 2. Position the patient correctly on a backboard or scoop stretcher. Lay the WEB on the patient with the lower point of the "V" at the top of the sternum. Place the "V" on either side of the head. The WEB is NOT designed to immobilize the head or cervical spine. Use a CID or locally accepted method to secure the head and cervical spine. 3. Slide the three adjustable straps along the spine and locate the top strap over the arms at the axilla. The second strap should be located at the distal end of the rib cage approximately mid abdomen. The third strap is to be located mid femur. The permanent bottom strap will automatically locate when the WEB’s spine is pulled straight. The foot strap will lay down the legs to the feet area. 4. Secure the patient by loosening the hook and loop fasteners on each strap. The end of each strap will feed through a corresponding hole in the backboard. The strap then can be pulled around and secured with the hook and loop fasteners. The straps should be tight enough to prevent movement but still allow normal breathing and rescuer access. The WEB’s spine should remain straight on the midline of the patient. 5. After the WEB is secure, the feet should be restrained. The foot strap can be opened and spread so that the two straps go around the outside of the feet, feed across the bottom of the feet, through the backboard holes, and lay on the top of the feet securing tightly with the hook and loop fasteners. The patient is now secure to the backboard. Take precautions when lifting and moving that the patient does not move or slide on the backboard. App. Wt. 3Lbs. Please note colors of the WEB may vary.
