The cylinder has a 30-ton capacity with a 2.44" stroke and holds up to 15.82 cu. in. of hydraulic fluid. Single-acting cylinders use liquid pumped through a single port for rod extension and an internal spring for rod retraction to produce continued movement. The cylinder has a steel-plated plunger for durability and a baked enamel finish for corrosion resistance. The grooved plunger end has threaded holes for mounting a tilt saddle (sold separately). A plunger wiper helps inhibit contamination. The CR-400 female coupler connects the cylinder to the pump. A dust cap covers the port when not in use. The air-powered pump has a closed hydraulic system for operating in any position. The reservoir holds up to 61 cu. in. of hydraulic fluid. The pump has two speeds for pumping efficiency and optimal flow. The three-way, three-position valve controls the direction of the hydraulic fluid in a single-acting system. The output flow rate is 120 cu. in. per minute at no load or 15 cu. in. per minute at 10,000 psi (pounds per square inch). An external pressure relief valve helps prevent overloading. A ground screw facilitates grounding and helps prevent static sparks. The cylinder weighs 15 lb., has an outside diameter of 4.00", and measures 7.06" high when extended and 4.63" high when collapsed. The cylinder's effective area, or the surface area of the piston rod face, is 6.49 sq. in. (The amount of force a hydraulic cylinder can produce is equal to the hydraulic pressure times the effective area.) The pump weighs 19 lb. and has a maximum operating pressure of 10,000 psi.
