EquiFone/GSM Foaling Alarm – No land line required The receiver/dialer is a microcomputer telephone dialer that calls 1 – 4 pre-stored numbers and plays a pre-recorded message. It connects to the GSM wireless unit and uses it to call out in place of a land line. The GSM Wireless Unit is a quad band device and will operate world wide. You must provide a GSM SIM (GSM Subscriber Indentity Module) card for the Wireless Unit. You can use a SIM card from an active GSM cell phone, or you can purchase a "pay as you go" GSM SIM card from several vendors on-line. · The transmitter is placed in a small pouch, and attached to the mares halter. · When the mare lies in the foaling position, the transmitter sends a signal to the receiver/dialer. The receiver/dialer then calls the pre-stored telephone numbers and transmits a pre-recorded message to alert the breeder to the fact that the mare is lying in the foaling position. · There is built in delay of 8 - 10 seconds before the transmitter sends the signal to the receiver/dialer to prevent false alarms in the event the mare just lies down and gets up again · The distance for transmission from the transmitter on the mare, to the receiver/dialer is up to 500 feet. Transmission strength is enhanced by having a clear line of site between the transmitter and the receiver/dialer The transmitter mounts on the mare in the throatlatch area. Mounting it in this manner prevents it from getting wet when the mare drinks, and from getting hung up on water buckets and feeders which can result in false alarms. Other brands of halter foaling alarms mount their transmitter under the lower jaw which can allow these types of problems to occur. · An unlimited number of horses can be monitored at the same time.
