Rare Ex-Cell-O Air Bearing Spindle.  Originally used on large diamond turning lathes for large hard disk drive, optics, and weapons production.  Spins freely when supplied with clean, dry, filtered pressurized air.  We were planning on retrofitting this onto one of our machines for in-house use, but have cancelled the project and so for the right price we will part with this rare gem.  A new spindle of this size, which would be a custom project, would cost $100,000+. Faceplate is approximately 16" diameter, pilot is for 4" hole.  Spindle is currently un-motorized, as this unit was set up to be belt-driven.  It has a rotor on the rear of the spindle for a mechanical brake.  If interested, I am willing to negotiate supplying a belt drive or direct drive motor and encoder or tach as a separate project.  Would make for an awesome retrofit on grinder or lathe, or other device requiring smooth, accurate axis of rotation. Buyer will pay for freight shipping, which we can help arrange if desired.  The spindle can be inspected at our facility, or we can provide a video showing it rotate.  It is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty express or implied. Payment may be made via PayPal, Visa, M/C, wire transfer, or company check.  Item will not ship until funds are cleared.  Item must be paid for within 2 business days of close of sale.  Send us a message or call 888-755-1425 x777 with questions.
