Mini-SPEC Portable Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA) and Radiation Detection Instrument with upgraded optional GM detector (in addition to scintillation NaI detector). Current calibration: Isotope Energy Verification and Dose Rate Calibration, see below. High sensitivity 2.2 inch by 1.5 inch sodium iodide (NaI) detector, easily measures background of low ur/hr (1ur/hr = 10nSv/hr) with internal NaI detector, and up to 1000 mr/hr (10mSv/hr) with internal additional GM detector, auto switching of detectors as needed. User can menu choose auto-ranging units of R or Sv, instrument is full auto-ranging ur/hr to 1000 mr/hr and corresponding Sv/units. Operates on two D-cell batteries. Battery compartment perfect condition, clean and bright, see photographs. Low battery warning on display. Has RS-232 port for data download, RS-232 cable included, as is web reference site to download logging software, application software, isotope library software, spectral MCA graphing software, etc. Seventy (70) page detailed user manual included. Also included is full manual in .pdf format on CD. Also included is additional printed 40+ page detailed catalogue-listing of various isotopes by energy, half life, etc. Also included is Cesium-137 (Cs-137) reference calibration source, used to check-calibrate energy vs. MCA channel number. System can be set to display either 0 - 1.5 Mev full scale energy, or 0 - 3 Mev full scale energy, selected by user via instrument menu. Cs-137 source also used to verify operation of instrument in scan-detect and the dose rate (R or Sv auto-ranging modes). Cs-137 is license exempt, no license required. Source is encapsulated in Lucite holder, and stored in padded lead enclosure, which in turn is enclosed in lead outer container. The lead shielded source holder is kept in padded zipped carry case, stored in impact resistant black polyurethane carry case, see photographs. The GR-130 instrument, RS-232 cable, padded source zipped carry case are all contained in foam padded, lockable sturdy plastic carry-transport case, see photographs. GR-130 MiniSPEC Portable Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA) – Radiation Detection Instrument Features: 1) Multichannel Analyzer (MCA) 0-1.5 or 0-3 Mev full scale, auto ranging cpm scale, spectra can be run-counted from 10 seconds to 5400 seconds (90 minutes), viewed in real-time, and logged-saved in memory.  2) 122 spectra can be logged, saved in memory, and outputted to PC via RS-232 cable.  3) MCA is energy vs. channel stabilized with included low level, license exempt Cs-137 source.  4) MCA channel resolution 0.1 channel.  5) Gross and net regions of interest (ROI) area computation, ROI displayed on MCA spectra, in real-time and on final display.  6) Two pairs of 3 region of interest (ROI) can be highlighted on display.  7) Energy calibration converts channels to energy.  8) Dead Time count rate correction, automatic 0.1% precision.  9) Digital real time clock and calendar, displayed and logged with saved data and spectrums.  10) MCA peak position, 0.1 channel precision.  11) Dose rate measurements R or Sv based (user choice), with full auto-ranging down to background.  11a) Sodium iodide (Na) detector 1 ur/hr to 5 mr/hr, auto-switch to internal GM tube from 5 mr/hr to 1000 mr/hr, with saturation at 3000 mr/hr. 12) Audio alarm, dose rate adjustable, can be turned on-off.  13) Dose rate data can be stored, also MCA data-spectra, also survey counts-per-second data.  14) 122 stored MCA spectra, 16,360 dose rate or cps survey samples, including time-date can be stored.  15) Serial data output 9600 baud RS-232, 1 start bit, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.  16) LCD backlighted display contrast digitally adjustable in 20 steps by joystick in selection menu, backlight can be constant-on or time selected auto-off. (WTSTN: Wide Temperature Super Twist Nematic, 128 x 128 pixel LED backlighted LCD display)  17) All display and menu features controlled by handle mounted joystick.  18) Extremely fast (50 msec, 20 samplings per second) detector sample rate,  real-time counts per second (cps) mode can be displayed with displayed moving-graph time vs cps, fast real-time scan data can be logged or not logged.  19) In real-time fast scan mode audio pitch vs. cps can turned on or disabled. Pitch (40 – 2000 Hz) changes with cps, with audio threshold low pitch starting at just above background, micro-processer algorithm determines when audio starts, typically 2X lowest background.  20) Main display menu, selection via handle mounted joystick, each of the seven (7) main menu items has multiple sub-menus also selected via up-down, left-right of handle mounted joystick.  21) Auto power off if no user action or on-going data collection for 2.5 minutes.  22) MCA isotope spectrum library stored in memory and be updated / changed / added-to / reduced, via download software.  23) MCA collected spectrum, channel vs. energy is compared to the stored isotope spectra library and measured isotope determined based on spectra comparison to library isotopes.   24) Current about 20 of most common isotope spectra in-memory, typical (presently in library): Cs-137, Co-60, Am-241, Ir-192, Co-57, Th-232, K-40, Ra-226, U-235, I-131, U-nat. and few others. Library isotopes can be deleted from memory or added (via software). Note: too many isotopes in the memory with overlapping energy regions can/will make unknown isotope auto-determination more difficult. Instrument isotope library should be limited to isotopes of interest to help resolve identification of unknown isotope(s).  25) Manual isotope identification is always possible as photopeak energies are displayed, and looked up using included 40+ page hard copy printout of isotope vs gamma energies.   26) Moveable (via joystick) cursor marker can be moved across MCA spectrum to exactly display channel number and associated counts. The 3 regions of interest (ROI’s) are also displayed via darkening of the LCD spectrum display line, see photograph of simultaneous detection of Cs-137 and Co-60, with channel marker centered above the Cs-137 peak.  Exploranium GR-130 is 9.25 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, 3.9 inches high and weighs approximately 4.9 lbs. Included is full-surround 1/4 inch thick, yellow rubber-bumper protection base enclosure, which can be easily removed, enclosure is open in the center-front of the scintillation (NaI) detector area for best low energy detection. Exploraniium GR-130 is in excellent, like-new condition, each and every function works, all menus fully work, instrument in isotope Cs-137 calibration, with user calibration updates with included Cs-137 license exempt reference source. GR-130 instrument in Dose Rate Calibration using NIST Traceable, J.L. Shepard Model 28-5, Serial Number 10118,  Cs-137 Calibrator, with supplied current NIST Traceable Dose Rate Calibration NIST Certificate. GR-130 instrument and accessories will be very well packed for insured shipping.
