True RMS AC/DC Mini Clamp Meter The compact Extech 380947 is a 400A True RMS mini clamp meter with a small diameter jaw designed to reach in small areas while providing 1mA resolution and very low-current sensitivity. This mini clamp meter is useful for current- and frequency-related troubleshooting in plant maintenance, electrical, HVAC, and telecom work, as well as home electrical, fleet maintenance, marine, and motorcycle repairs. Key Functionality Depending on a given job, you can select from several AC current ranges: 4A/40A/100A/400A. The 4A AC range with 1mA resolution is optimized for finding problems where low current variances would be missed by standard clamp meters. DC current can be measured in two useful ranges: 40A/400A. In addition to AC/DC current, this mini clamp meter measures frequency to 10kHz.The 380947 features True RMS to compensate for distortion from electronic components, such as fluorescent lights, motor drives, computer power supplies, and other electronic systems that can distort the AC waveform, which make it difficult for averaging meters to obtain accurate readings. This meter?s True RMS capability uses a more advanced formula to adjust for this kind of distortion. Other Features This meter?s multiple ranges, ergonomic design, and go-anywhere 0.9" (23mm) jaw opening provide versatility whether you are checking amp draws on industrial equipment and building circuits or taking readings in a tight areas like inside engine bays. The useful Data Hold function freezes the display while the Min/Max function tracks and displays minimum and maximum values ? useful for blind measurements and start-up draws. The Zero function makes it easy to perform relative measurements. The 4-digit (4,000-count) readout is easy to read and a 40 segment bar graph helps simulate an analog display, better illustrating swings in readings captured by this meter. CAT III-rated, this versatile meter measures 7.2 x 2.5 x 1.4" (H x W x D) and comes with test leads, two AAA batteries, soft carrying case, and user manual. NIST certification is also available.
