An OAKLEAF product, made in England exclusively at these premises - not available in the high street. This Great Beam is an authentic lightweight replica of an antique oak original, measuring approx 21' x 1' x 1', supplied hand-stained to order (first picture illustrates our standard jacobean oak finish, second our dusty natural old "limed" oak finish, and the third illustrates the effect created by our reproduction oak beams generally, again in standard finish). We sold the original (300 years old) on ebay having made a mould, so that we could offer copies that are virtually indistinguishable from it, but that weigh only 25 kgs (as opposed to 750kgs!), so it is easy to fit, using nails and glue (unlike the extensive and expensive structural work required for the real thing - an important factor to consider when comparing with a salvaged oak beam, if you can find one suitable!) NB this is a purely decorative product, and not load bearing. The beam is U shaped, so ideal for cladding ugly boxed RSJs (up to around 10" deep x 8" wide). Being impervious to the effects of central heating, it is guaranteed not to crack or twist (unlike natural wood)! Also unlike salvaged oak, our beams are readily available to order, and delivered fully-finished, ready to fit. Having had great difficulty finding the original, (which cost ?950) we know how rare and expensive old beams of this size are! Bids on this auction are for a single 21' long beam, though shorter versions and smaller beams are available. Please enquire re special services - if you need a bespoke finish, for instance, or a longer length. The delivery charge quoted represents the cost to most of mainland UK, but we can only quote accurately with a postcode.
