It has a dial for variable intensity. We did power up the unit and it does appear to work fine. We were not able to test it as there are safety warnings against using this without the proper equipment. This piece was recently surplussed by the State of Louisiana from one of the state universities. It comes with the unit and a power cord. While there is no warranty with this unit we do guarantee that it will not be dead on arrival. This unit still sells on the Fisher Scientific web page for $2,130. The unit is pretty clean with a few nicks and scratches but you have a chance to save thousands of dollars with this unit.
