For UV detectors, the maximum distance is up to 8meters (26ft) in the continuous mode and up to 4meters (13ft) in the pulse mode. The typical test range for IR and UV/IR detectors is up to 4 meters (13ft). Most IR Flame detectors have an extra alarm criterion through analyzing the flicker frequency of a fire. In order to simulate the same flicker, the lamp needs to be pulse operated. For this, the test lamp T229-4P can be put into pulse mode by means of a switch on the left side of the test lamp. The lamp then emits pulsed light with a frequency of 2Hz. After the alarm delay time, the IR or UV/IR detector will activate.
