This listing is for one (1) Universal Flame Sensor for use with Hot Surface Ignition (H.S.I.) furnaces, hot water heaters, gas logs, pools, ect. - Flame rod is 2 1/2" Length (total length is 3 3/4") x approximately 5/16" Wide. Will replace most flame sensors.  Flame should touch the tip of the flame sensor and after sensor becomes hot, a low voltage signal will be sent to the gas valve (if flame sensor is clean and in good working order and the ceramic is free of cracks), which will then open the gas valve, allowing gas to flow to the ignitor. Can be cleaned with fine steel wool.
