Old Antique Uncommon 0.4-0.001” Fowler Dial Thickness Gauge With Original Hard Case, Rare Teddy Bear Head Logo S-3917, 1940s? Made In Japan, Zoom In Or Click On Pictures And Please Read Our Detailed Item Description Below, Please View Our Other Auctions Here, Combine Items To Save On Shipping This auction is for what we believe to be a very uncommon antique Fowler dial thickness gauge that comes with its original hard case. The case is marked FOWLER. DIAL THICKNESS GAUGE. SI-112 and also has an image/logo of a teddy bear/cub head with bow-tie on it. The gauge also has the teddy bear logo and is marked FOWLER. 0.4-0.001”. MADE IN JAPAN. S-3917. We are unsure as to how old the gauge is and are guessing that it dates back to the 1940s given it appears to be perhaps their earliest mark (we believe the company was founded in 1946). We have seen many other Fowler dial thickness gauges but could not find a single other specimen bearing the teddy bear logo making this a scarce item. The gauge looks to be in working order. The 2 dials spin when the thumb lever is pressed and/or released. The gauge looks to have retained most of its original black finish although it does have aging, wear, scratches, nicks, etc. The glass looks to be free of any cracks but does have scratches throughout. The gauge face looks to measure roughly 2” in diameter. The case has a functioning clasp on front and the hinges appear to be in working order. The box has aging, scratches, edge wear, bumped corners, fading, discoloration, etc. The inside of the box is also aged and has some pen-type scratch marks as well as some small tears and/or fraying. The box looks to measure roughly 5 1/4” x 4” x 1 1/4”. The gauge/box weighs roughly 8 oz. This rare antique Fowler dial thickness gauge that comes with its original case is sure to be a nice addition to your collection.
