Frog Frame For Oliver No. 10 Horse Drawn Walking Turning Plow

US $240

This frog for an Oliver No. 10 horse drawn walking plow still has some of the original green paint and appears never to have been used. It is stamped 10SR, Oliver, Made in USA. The back is stamped with the code F418. The frog is the irregularly shaped piece of iron that serves as a frame to hold together the other pieces of the plow: the share, shin, and landside. The frog is attached to the standard, which in turn is attached to the beam; braces complete the assembly. The Oliver Plow Works of South Bend, Indiana, built many different models of horse drawn walking plows for use in different soils with different size draft animals. The No. 10 was intended for use with a team of 1,200-pound horses. I have been told that this frog is for a right-hand turning plow. It is sold here without warranty or return. It is about 12 inches long and extremely heavy. If you don’t happen to have an Oliver plow needing a frog, it would make an interesting conversation-starter doorstop.
