The unit powers up reached -30 in our testing, however it progressed very slowly by that point. With a couple more hours testing (we only ran it for an hour or two) it might get to -40, but we have only tested it to -30 so far. It is in reasonable condition but it does have signs of use all over, various scrapes and dents. There are some breaks in the plastic inside the bottom of the unit.
