Offered today is a lantern mantle - high quality thorium source suitable for geiger counter testing.  Each mantle package  produces  between 3000 and 3800 CPM.  All measurements were taken using a geiger meter with SBM20 tube with no shield on the surface of the package. Your CPM reading may be slightly higher or lower depending on the sensitivity of your Geiger counter and the distance from the mantle. Each package contains ONE (1), mantle. This mantle is brand new. This  mantle was impregnated with Thorium (Thoriated). The diameter of the mantle is about 9cm. or 3.54in. Attention eBay: This item is completely legal to possess and to sell, and is in full compliance with US law, USPS regulations, and eBay's Hazardous Material Policy. The amount of hazardous material in these standard lantern mantles is very small.  NUREG-1717 section 3.4.1 : "any person is exempt from the requirements for a license to the extent that the person receives, possesses, uses, or transfers any quantity of thorium contained in incandescent gas mantles. This exemption was established on March 20, 1947 (12 FR 1855), and has remained essentially unchanged since that time." We use mail with tracking number. Estimated Delivery Time: 12/25 business days.
