The amount of hazardous material in these standard lantern mantles is very small. Geiger counters are not just a neat item to have around for hobby use, they may also be a necessary item in today's increasingly nuclear world. Testing them to ensure they work can be a problem if a readily available radioactive sample isn't available. Offered today is a radioactive source that can be used to test geiger counters. This is for ONE (1), generic brand lantern mantle packaged inside of a small Ziploc bag.   Each package contains ONE (1), mantle. This mantle is brand new, new stock. This  mantle was impregnated with Thorium (Thoriated), and is a great alternative to the hard-to-find old Coleman mantles. Each mantle package I have produces between 1100 and 2100 CPM on my two Geiger counters. Lower readings are obtained when the mantle is still in the bag. Higher readings are obtained when the mantle is removed from the package and doubled over. Your CPM reading may be slightly higher or lower depending on the sensitivity of your Geiger counter.
