Up for auction is a WORKING vintage General Radio Type 100-L 115v/230v 2000va VARIAC 2KW Variable Transformer with rackmount plate. You can use this with either 115v and/or 230v supply lines. If you have both 115v and 230v supply lines the variac automatically switches to the 230v supply at midpoint of the dial (straight up). It's been fully tested and it works perfectly! There is a screw terminal that is broken but these easy to replace and readily available for $5 +/- on eBay. I can think of a 1000 things this would be a useful tool for... one serious power supply for the serious experimenter... beef up my HAM or broadcasting radio... build a colossal Tesla Coil... a Jacobs Ladder... oh my goodness, there's just no end to the possibilities! A new one of these would cost you at least a couple thousand dollars today! ... I also have the 3 current/voltage meters that were rack-mounted with it listed separately here (item: 121427977155)... plus I have a REALLY MASSIVE transformer with dual outputs of 6000 Volts and 4900 Volts @ 500madc listed separately here (item: 111446974702)! There is no rust, just a bit of dust that will literally blow off with a good air hose. Fully tested with a 110/220 supply and it runs well. It's in in really nice condition too except for a broken terminal strip to the right of the red connector (see picture). Includes the Struthurs Dunn overload relay and good fuses as pictured. The overall measurements are 19" wide x 7" high x 9" deep and it weighs about 40 lbs before packing. WEIGHT = Approx. 40 LBS.
