The veterinary medicinal product, Gentamicin 10% Solution for injection (gentamicin sulphate), is an effective and powerful aminoglycoside antibiotic for ruminants, horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats. It has a bacteriocidal static effect on primarily Gram-negative microorganisms such as E.coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus, and Pseudomonas strains, as well as some Gram-positive microorganisms like StaphyloВcocci, beta-hemolytic Streptococci, Corynebacteria spp, and Mycoplasma spp. It is quickly absorbed from the injection site and can be retained in the blood and tissues for 12-24 h. Its concentrated presence can be found in the urine and exceeds that in the blood. Gentamicin can treat various respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urogenital infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, endometritis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, infected wounds, pyodermia sepsis, and more. Intramuscularly, subcutaneously, orally, and intrauterinally are all suitable modes of administration for Gentamicin. However, it can cause heavy nephritis and damages to the vestibular and hearing organs if it's continually administered in higher doses. In some cases, like cats, ataxia and vomiting occur, which means the treatment must be discontinued. The preparation comes in multidose vials of 50 ml and has a withdrawal period for meat (excluding kidneys and injection site) of 7 days after its final administration. The withdrawal period for kidneys and injection site is 45 days after its last administration. Additionally, for milk, it is two days after its final administration.
