Good Running Maytag Model 72 Gas Engine Motor Hit & Miss Twin Cylinder This is a nice engine in restored condition!  It is Serial # 948240. It has the Eisemann magneto and good spark on both plugs.  It will sit and run very nicely.  The only things I see missing is the spring for the first starter (ratchet) tooth and the spring is disconnected for the kickstart return. When you kick it you have to raise the pedal back up with your foot. This should be straightforward to hook back up. Also one of the spark plug boots is torn. These are usually missing completely.  As with every one of these Maytags that I've owned, they all have their quirks (especially these twins).  I try to be as honest as possible about each one. This one will start on both cylinders as long as you kick and spin it fast enough and have the carb knob set right. As an alternative, I sometimes remove one plug wire, ground it to the engine and run it on just one cylinder for a few seconds. Then stop the engine, reattach the other plug wire and start it normally. This seems to make it easier to start since it's already partly warmed up. Also, in case you're not familiar with these, they do smoke and leak some gas/oil around the joints when running. They are truly a unique little engine! This would be a great engine for the beginning collector or to add to your existing collection. These have a very unique sound and will draw a crowd!   Feel free to ask any questions.
