If you apply it like white or yellow glue, it most certainly will not work, B)put the glue on one surface only and expose it to air before holding the pieces together (firmly), and C) even though the bond may seem strong enough to hold at first glance (and probably is), allow it to cure over night. I used Gorilla super glue to fix a finder scope with a metal base to my telescope tube which is plastic. I honestly did not expect it to work and, at first, it appeared that it did not. I applied the glue to the metal base (probably too much), held the surfaces together for at least a minute, released my grip and they immediately fell apart. Damn. However, I noticed that the surfaces had become tacky, so I held them together again and Bang!, they were bonded almost instantly. That was over a month ago, I have used my scope many times and the bond has held just fine. Good luck- hope this helps. For years I have been looking for a cyanoacrylate (super glue) that had a tip that would not plug rendering the product useless. I finally found it in Gorilla Super Glue. I have used my bottle multiple times without having the tip clog. Therefore, I am reasonably certain that this bottle will last a long time. The brand of super glue is probabaly no stronger or tougher than any other brand of super glue. Cyanoacrylate is cyanoacrylate. I have found that one must use cyanoacrylate sparingly for it to work as advertized. If one floods the area with cyanoacrylate, it will not set properly and will also cause a mess. So used sparingly, drops instead of rivers, and allow it to set in the air for about a minute or so before placing the pieces together. Then hold the pieces together for another minute or two and then gently try the pieces with pressure. They should be bonded together. Keep off of skin! Cyanoacrylate bonds skin surfaces together instantly, so avoid getting it on your fingers, or you may find yourself bonded to the object you are repairing!
