This shaker heats up to 100?C provided by a flat element, and cools to 15?C below room temperature provided by Peltier elements, and mixes both simultaneously and independently. The orbital motion provides uniform mixing across the thermoshaker block with a smooth continuous circular action. This shaker has continuous or timed shaking between one minute to 96 hours, and an audible alarm for ease of operation. A clear 16 x 2 character LCD shows the set and actual time of operation, mixing speed, and temperature. Applications for this shaker include genetic analyses, such as extraction of DNA and RNA, biochemical studies of enzymatic reactions and processes, and extraction of metabolites from cellular material. The unit comes with one of five interchangble blocks: HC18 20 (20 x 0.5ml and 12 x 1.5ml microtubes), HC32 (20 x 0.2ml and 12 x 1.5ml microtubes), HC24N (24 x 1.5ml microtubes), HC24 (24 x 2ml microtubes), or HC96 (96-well microplate for polymerase chain reaction, 0.2ml).
