GRISCOMBE Portable Microfilm Reader/Projector 16 & 35 mm roll-film This is the best Griscombe Microfilm Reader/Projector I’ve ever auctioned on eBay. If you check my feedbacks you will see I sold quite afew over the years. In my opinion this microfilm reader/projector looks like it was rarely used. Have you ever gone to a library planning on doing some research with microfilm and find all the readers occupied. You sit and wait hoping someone hurries and gets finished. This happened to me more than once, sometimes I’ve waited over two hours to get a machine then they announce "the library will be closing in 10 minutes". If you ever waited to use a microfilm reader and you didn’t get to finish your research before the library closed you will want this Portable Microfilm Reader. I’ve been to many libraries and they are more than happy to let you plug your own personal reader in. I now realize lot of people don’t know that you can bring your own reader to a library, this is the way to go, no more waiting on other people to finish. It’s also great to use at home to do research, you can find a lot of places on line that sell microfilm like CensusMicrofilm.Com. You can do your research in your home at your leisure without worrying about what time the library closes. If you want to show friends or family members something you found you can bring it to them instead of dragging them to the library. I have a couple of portable units myself and whenever I go to a library I bring one because I know how valuable research time is. There is always someone waiting to use a reader at the library who will ask, where did I purchase it, how much did it cost. This unit weights about 18 pounds. It has a handle so carrying it is like carrying a small suitcase. This is a (Griscombe Products, Inc. New York) portable 16 & 35 mm roll microfilm reader and projector. Comes with Operation and Care manual, one of the manual has Dietzgen Portable Microfilm Reader printed on it, the other has Griscombe on it. I don’t know if Dietzgen made it for Griscombe or if Griscombe made it for Dietzgen. All I know is it works great and I’ve already sold a few of these readers from time to time and the only complaints I’ve heard is one buyers says his arrived damaged in shipping. That’s why I insure all my shipments. To me this is the Rolls Royce of Portable Microfilm Readers. Anytime I see a portable microfilm reader at an estate sale, thrift store, or flee market I buy it just to sell on ebay because I know some researcher will want it. I will include a spare lamp, and also included is a 35mm take-up reel and a 16mm take-up reel. I have to start the bidding at $150.00 because the people who run these sales are starting to know what these readers are worth. This reader works great but because of its age this item is being sold "as is" "all sales are final". Hopefully some researcher who can use it will win and not someone just buying to sell it at a higher price.
