GS-1102-PRO  (GS-1100-PRO and GS-1102-PRO are now identical units) When you have a great product which works as well as the GS-1100A it's not easy to make small improvements, so we decided to start from scratch. The GS-PRO model has been redesigned from the ground up, virtually nothing is the same as the 1100A. In the outset we wanted a more stable Gamma Spectacular, which would hold constant voltage, even through temperature changes, also we wanted the ability to regulate voltage smoothly over a range, rather than in increments of 50V. These objectives were achieved through the use of a precision voltage reference source which is used to stabilize the output voltage via a feedback circuit, and it performs excellently, with virtually no voltage drift, even in the startup phase. We did not stop there, we also added a digital voltage panel meter, and completely redesigned the pre-amplifier as well. What you can expect from this new unit, is more control and sharper spectra right from the start.   GS-1102-PRO Technical Specifications    Input Power (USB) + 5V Current Draw < 200 ma Output Bias Voltage (smooth potentiometer) 0V to 1100V Output Signal (Audio Line Level) + 0 - 2500mV Pulse length 100 µs Preamp Gain (adjustable trim pot on bord) set to ~10% Ripple  < 1 mV Voltage Drift <1:1000V Includes: USB Cable, male to male 3.5 mm jack plug cable and BNC to SMA cable   Gamma spectacular outputs an audio signal proportional to the input pulse energy, and is designed to work with sound card spectroscopy software, utilising the analog to digital capabilities of modern computers. SINGLE WIRE OR SPLIT SIGNAL TWO WIRE DETECTORS  This unit has separate connections for HV bias and signal and suits scintillation detectors with either one or two connectors. The BNC connector supplies the bias voltage and the smaller gold plated SMA connector is the optional signal input. The driver comes with a 1 meter SMA to BNC cable. A microswitch accessible through a hole under the unit allows the capacitive coupling to be disconnected from the preamp, when used with a split signal detector. The benefits of using detectors with integral coupling and separate HV and signal cables, is less noise and less loss when longer cables are needed. RADIATION DETECTOR This unit does not come with a radiation detector. For basic radiation activity measurements, it will work with most GM tubes or pancake detectors, and for Gamma spectroscopy it will work best with NaI scintillation detectors coupled for positive voltage. Please feel free to send us the make and model number of your radiation detector, to confirm suitability. COMPUTER Any computer with a sound card and mic/line in audio jack port will work. The recommended software is for PC, but it will work perfectly on Mac OS-X with Crossover by CodeWeavers SOFTWARE There are several great programs available for sound card spectrometry, and most of them are FREE, please see our software download section for the program that suits your need here.
