Item is used and has some scuff marks but is fully functional except for battery test (see below). Includes: Magnetometer console with internal rechargeable NiCd batteries, fluid-filled sensor, 4-piece 70" aluminum staff, battery charger, external D-cell battery pack, cable with alligator clips for using charger with 12 volt DC input (e.g. a car battery), carrying strap, user manual, carrying case. The internal rechargeable batteries are the original factory installed NiCd batteries. The state of charge retention of these batteries is unknown. Just prior to listing this item on Ebay a test was carried out by fully charging the batteries and taking 1000 magnetometer readings at about 3-4 second intervals. The batteries held their charge for this set of readings. If the external battery pack is used, D-cells with non-ferrous jackets are recommended. Battery charger can be used with either 120 volt AC input or 12 volt DC input. The battery test (see Operating Modes-Self-test mode below in Specifications) is not working. Specifications: Resolution: 1 nanotesla (1 gamma). Accuracy: +/- 1 nT over operating range. Range: 20,000-99,999 nT in 23 overlapping steps. Gradient Tolerance: Up to 5000 nT/metre. Operating Modes: Manual pushbutton - new reading every 1.85 s; Cycling - pushbutton initiated, 1.85 s period; Self-test mode - Magnetometer cycles through normal reading, 88888 display test, battery test. Output: Visual - 5 digit, 1 cm high liquid crystal display visible in any ambient light. Power Requirements: 12 V, 0.7A operational;  5mA standby. Power Source: Internal - 12V, 0.75Ah NiCd rechargeable batteries, 3000 readings per full charge; External - 12-32V (external battery pack takes 10 D-cells). Battery Charger: Input 110V, 50 Hz or 12V DC; Output 12V 75mA DC. Operating Temperature: -35 to +55 C. Dimensions: Console - 15 x 8 x 15 cm (6 x 3.25 x 6 inches); Sensor - 14 x 7 cm dia (5.5 x 3 inches dia); Staff - 174 cm (70 inches) total; or 4  45 cm (18 inch) sections. Weight: 3.1 kg (6.8 lb) console with internal batteries plus sensor and staff; 7.5 kg (16.5 lb) complete unit including all accessories and case.
