Question & Answer: Q: Hi , Does your siren work with an 8 ohm speaker ? or it must be an 11 ohm ? Let me know ASAP. A: Yes, to reach 115dB+ SPL output, you should use an 11 ohm speaker. You can also use an 8 ohm speaker with a series resistor connected with it. Please see this link below for reference. http://forums.radioreference.com/radioequipment-installation-forum/250573-8-ohm-speaker-amp-rated-11-ohms.html If you use an 8 ohm speaker with no series resistor, the amplifier will probably stop working due to its "speaker short circuit protection" feature. The amplifier will momentarily stop but will damage neither your speaker nor your amplifier. In other words, you can test our amplifier with an 8 ohm or 11 ohm speaker with no harm.
