H.S. Martin & Son Custom-Bilt Dewar Flask   For sale- an H.S. Martin & Son Custom-Bilt Dewar Flask.  It’s always hard to read the printing on the side because the underlying metallic layer reflects it back almost like a double exposure.  But I think it says “Specially evacuated for use with liquefied gases.  Seal-off pressure 2x10.7 mm.  Processed according to Scott, Cooke & Brickwedde, Bureau of Standards, Journal of Research.”  I think.   The dewar overall is about 29 inches long from the bottom tip to the lower edge of the second aluminum plate, which is what I think the foam covered top lip makes up to.  And not including the extra set of aluminum rods sticking out all by themselves.  Hopefully the aluminum frame comes off, or at least those rods, otherwise shipping is going to be problematic.  More on that later.  I offer it as pictured in case the aluminum holder structure would be useful in your application, but I will be happy to (try and) remove it if you don’t want it.   As I think you can see in the pictures the dewar is largest in the middle, about 5”OD there, necking in to about 4”OD in the area of the spigot above the two spouts.  I understand that typically this would hold liquid nitrogen (?) in the internal area, but I don’t understand the purpose of the spigot and spouts unless that allows you to circulate something in proximity to the LN2 to cool it?  If anyone would like to enlighten me on that I would appreciate it, as I have quite a collection of dewars at this point.  I have one that looks basically the same, also a Martin Custom-Bilt, but it is longer and in a wooden enclosure.  Not that many Martin Dewars listed so I will let you just find it in an old fashion search if you are so inclined.  Same search will get you to my listing for multiple large dewars, but none of those have the spigots and spouts.  Plus more larger dewars that I have yet to get listed.   Untested, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.  However, IF you pay the asking price and find it has a problem you cannot live with within 14 days of receipt you may return it.  Returns are ONLY allowed on Buy It Now Purchases.  Accepted Best Offers are strictly an as is sale, no returns allowed.  Return would be for a refund of the purchase price, not including shipping costs.   Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.  As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain degree of risk.  If you Buy It Now your risk is limited to the shipping costs both ways.  If you submit an offer you do so knowing that you cannot return it.  In either case it is up to you to decide whether the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.   Please check out my other listings for more interesting lab, test, and optical equipment.  Check back often!   Sold as is, as described, as pictured.  Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.  Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am now required to select from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.  If the functional condition of the item is known it will be stated as such in the listing.  Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.   Payment is expected within 7 days of the close of the sale and I need to hear from you within 3 days to confirm the transaction.  Because of the weight and/or bulk of the item I have chosen to let ebay’s shipping calculator figure out the cost based on your zip code.  I am going to assume that you do NOT want the aluminum frame and that I can remove it, so the calculated cost that you see does NOT include the frame.  If you want that I will be happy to send it, but it should probably ship in a separate box to lighten the dewar shipment.  If you want the aluminum just let me know and I will bill you separately for that shipment.   Alternatively I would be happy to ship it charged to your Fedex account.  I will under NO circumstances ship it UPS, the people there don’t seem to be smart enough to handle a shipment charged to the recipients account, nor do they appear to be smart enough to correct their mistake after the fact.   With increasing frequency the ebay shipping calculator seems to be incapable of actually “calculating”, instead it prefers to tell you that the zip code you have entered is invalid.  Unless/Until they can fix it the only thing I can do is to plug my zip, your zip, the weight and dimensions in at fedex.com to arrive at a shipping cost for your particular shipment.  So if ebay isn’t providing a shipping cost automatically, you can always go to fedex.com and estimate it yourself.  It would be shipping from a fedex terminal in 22902 in a box assumed to be 36x14x14, 25 pounds (again, NOT including the aluminum frame).
