One five (5) gram vial of polyamic acid resin. Compare to Supelco's unfiltered wire grade* "polyimide sealing resin" at $44 for a 5 gram vial. Most people call this 'polyimide' resin, but they're technically wrong. It's only a polyimide after dehydration/ring closure: it is a polyamic acid  in NMP (BTDA-ODA-MPD). We only sell the very same resin that is used to make your GC column, not some transformer wire grade stuff that looks about right. The wire grade resin sold by almost everyone else isn't all that bad -- heck, in some cases its even the same polymer (but lower average molecular weight). The important difference is particulates: semiconductor grade (this stuff) is filtered to 0.3 microns so there are no particles in there big enough to score your capillary to a point where it'll fail below the proof-test stress. That's why we use semiconductor grade to make capillary and optical fiber. The other difference is the solvent system and this is also the easiest way to tell if what you've been using is wire grade or not (get the MSDS). Semiconductor grade uses only NMP (n-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) solvent at 75% to 80%. Wire grade uses more volatile and cheaper solvent blends, usually containing acetone and hydrocarbons like xylene. *If you must use resin, at least use one that won't damage your column. Check the MSDS of what you are using. We offer small vials of polyamic acid resin or those of you who are used to leaky press fit connectors. Of course, it'd be simpler to switch to our Pres2fit connectors and avoid this messy stuff altogether, but we understand you want to use up all those old unions and Y-splitters before buying more.... We understand but we respectfully disagree.  In fact, using polyimide resin to seal a leaky press fit is like using Teflon tape to seal a leaky Swagelok: pointless. Still, there are some legitimate reasons for using the resin, so here is the right stuff.
