i-STAT is brand new!!!  Ordered item and unable to use in our clinical setting.  Equipment has never been used.  The i-STAT Portable Clinical Analyzer system and its operational components perform a wide variety of biochemical, acid-base, blood gas, hematology and coagulation assays in the veterinary hospital.  Just a few droops of either fresh whole blood or heparin-anticoagulated whole blood are placed into the test cartridge and the cartridge is inserted into the analyzer.  Testing begins automatically and quantitative patient results are displayed in approximately 2 minutes.  Accuracy is ensured by extensive quality checks and calibration that occur automatically with each cartridge.  Fifty patient records are stored in the analyzer and data may also be printed out using a portable printer and infrared communication device.
