Hickok 533A Mutual Conductance Tube Tester - Calibrated - Specs Near Perfect *.* Hickok 533A Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Calibrated and Specs Near Perfect New Solid State 83 A NEW SOLID STATE 83 rectifier constructed with precision wire-wound Clarostat military spec resistors, Fairchild rectifier diodes, and ON Semiconductor Zener diodes, and a NOS Triad 5Y3GT. The test adapter and calibration tubes are not included. Voltage SPECS that can be seen in the pictures below. All tests were done with the correct shunt resistor to duplicate 1,000 Ohms/Volt Meter per Hickok's Calibration and Specifications for the 533A tester which will be included on a DVD with a manual, and comprehensive tube data. I will also include tube data to test most WESTERN ELECTRIC tubes on a 533A & 600A. The tube chart is dated 1971 and turns very easily. Picture 3 shows the AC signal voltage 2.5 SPEC is 2.5 +- .2 Picture 4 is the plate voltage of 151.7 SPEC is 150 +- 5 Picture 5 is the screen voltage of 136.2 SPEC is 130 +- 5 Picture 6 is the low screen voltage of 57.2 SPEC is 56 +- 3 Picture 7 is bias voltage at 100 which is -40.8 SPEC is -40 +- 1 Picture 8 is bias at 22 which is -3.0 SPEC is -3.0 +- .2 Picture 9 shows the filament voltage with the tube in the socket at 6.28 which there is no SPEC for in any Hickok manuals with a tube in the socket, but critical to get accurate test results. Many Hickok testers can be calibrated, but the heater voltage drops below 6 volts when a tube is in the socket causing inaccurate test results. Picture 10, 11 and 12 shows a 6L6 calibration tube with Gm of 5475 being tested with results at 5200 on both the 6k and 15k micromho selector and results of the English test on the same tube. A 6AX7 was tested on the 3k selector and reported to test at 1440 and 1400 and this 533A tested that tube at 1400 and 1350 and Gm test results in Pics 13 and 14. Picture 15 shows the New Solid State 83 Rectifier made and PIC 16 shows the precision resistors in the later model 533a’s that replaced the old resistor spools on the Micromho selector dial and elsewhere. The tester has a new 3 pronged grounded power cord. Please look at the pictures and ask any questions. The pictures are part of the description so please enlarge them and take a look for better details. This tester is at least 45 years old and should last another 50 if used and maintained properly, but if directions are not followed and someone tries to test a shorted tube e.g., any tube tester can be destroyed in a second. I cannot be held responsible for someone testing a shorted tube or pressing the Gm button instead of the rectifier. I do however guarantee you get exactly what is pictured and as described. You are expected to read the manual and understand what you are reading. You need to familiarize yourself with the tester and how it functions. Please take the time to do this since it could save you a lot of grief such as mistakenly pressing the Gm button when testing a rectifier. It is an easy mistake to make and why you need to be careful when using this type of equipment. If you read the manual and use the manual while using the tester until you become experienced, you should have very few problems if any. Also, the same tube tested on different and also calibrated testers will usually give different results on each tester. Please do not expect this tester to have the same exact results of a tube tested on another tester. If you expect that this tester will test the exact same Gm of a tube you purchased with reported Gm, then are disappointed and want to return it because it tested a tube higher or lower than you expected, do not buy this tester. You are looking to buy something that does not exist and I do not have the time or money to waste on non-issues and uncontrollable variables.
