Super Sounds Perfect Prices   Item Description Up for auction is a Hickok model TV-7/U vacuum tube tester with serial number 131 that was just freshly calibrated by Dan Nelson on March 19th, 2015. Many of you who are real tube aficionados will instantly recognize the brand-name Hickok.  The military TV-7 model is widely considered the most durable and accurate tester ever sold to the general public.  They were also sold to the US Government by the hundreds, to be used in critical applications, such as planes, tracking equipment, etc., so you know they had to be built to work, and keep working.  There are many stories out there, some apocryphal, we're sure, about these testers surviving floods, mud-slides, extreme rust, extreme heat, you name it, then being plugged in - - only to find out they still worked.  Oh, make no mistake, they do and did break down - - but it usually took a lot of use and/or abuse to cause that. This TV-7 tester is the same one used by many tube sellers here on Ebay and in using the TV-7 it is easy to see why it is so popular: First, its easy to use and get the tube settings for almost any popular tube made.  Second, there are widely available settings online for free.  Third, this is a very reliable tester.  Finally the settings can easily be converted to Mikromoh by simply just using a chart (which we will provide a copy of with sale) to convert the values from the actual meter reading to mikromoh.  This unit was sent to the well-known and very highly respected Dan Nelson just this very month, who inspected, cleaned, repaired, and calibrated it on March 19th of 2015. It is in good condition cosmetically for an instrument which is more than 50 years old. We are selling this tester with the knowledge that Dan Nelson calibrated it and that it needs absolutely nothing - everything is working as it was originally designed to.  Furthermore Dan has installed anti-parasitic ferrite beads on the 9 pin tube socket and now is much less likely to oscillate when testing high-mu low-cap tubes like 6DJ8 or 417A.  Which makes this TV-7/U much more like the TV-7 D/U with the only exception being that the D/U has an "F" range which this tester does not have, however most likely you will not need this extra range. Included in the auction is the receipt for the calibration (which cost us $285.00) and the actual calibration results, both of which are hand-signed by Dan Nelson (see pictures for proof).  Everything checked out and no stone was left unturned by Dan Nelson.  Tester works as originally designed.  Please see photo of test report for more detail.  We think this also carries a warranty period on the calibration work done by Dan Nelson but check with him to make sure. Unit includes the original Hickok test settings booklet, but like we said the test settings for this tester are widely available online including Western Electric and obsolete tubes.  The great thing about a Hickok tube tester is that the settings for oddball and rare tube types can always be found online by simply just doing a search. Includes calibration sheet done by Dan Nelson.  Also includes a copy of the actual calibration receipt.  Note: Does not include vintage Amperex tube shown.  Tube is shown for testing purposes only.  NOTE: International bidders - this tube tester will only be shipped by USPS Priority Mail Express insured which will be expensive but if you must have it this is the only way we will ship it overseas. This also includes Canada as well. Best of luck on being the next happy owner of this "Cadillac" of American tube-testers!!  Low auction reserve price of $800.00.  We spent over $285.00 for the calibration alone.  Just try and find another Dan Nelson freshly calibrated Hickok TV-7 and good luck with your search.  They never have a fresh calibration and are usually at least two years or more out of calibration, if they are even calibrated at all.  This one is good to go for you right now and needs absolutely nothing but lots of tubes to test. No returns on used electronics items.  Tester will not be DOA as it is exactly as described and is freshly calibrated by Dan Nelson.
