HIGH PURITY CORDIERITE CERAMIC DISK PLATE STOCK You are bidding on a High Purity Cordierite Ceramic Disk Plate Stock in mint condition being NOS (New Old Stock). It is made from the high purity mineral Mg2Al4Si5O18 which is also 2MgO·2Al2O3·5SiO2, a magnesium alumino-silicate. This material is an extremely lightweight material with low thermal expansion and excellent strength, rigidity and thermal shock resistance; and has very good corrosion resistance to chemicals at high temperature, and high use temperature. It may be used for a variety of electrical, mechanical, and thermal applications. Because it has such very low thermal conductivity as most ceramic materials go, it might be used as platen for soldering jewelry or a as setter plate for firing parts in a kiln. The plate may also be used for high temperature dental and jewelry furnaces and as high temperature refractory turntables.
