VERY HARD TO FIND PART! This is a triggered spark gap switch that is filled with SF-6 gas. It will hold off about 35KV and can switch pulsed current in the kilo-ampere rage. It is 2.5cm tall and 3.5cm in diameter, and is designed to deliver a full discharge in less than 4nS to a load. These switching units are used in high power lasers, flash x-ray emitters and miniature pulsed neutron generators. If it is to be used near it's maximum rating it should be potted in epoxy, silicone, or immersed in oil. To realize the fast commutation capability, you should use heavy copper or silver sheet metal as the buss bar electrodes. It requires a 10-15kVP trigger coil to fire it; the mi-lasers ssy-1 triggering coil works OK, also i have a trigger module in another listing. This gap is fast due to the SF-6 filling, jitter is about 4-6nS at VMP. Switches on when you need it. Definitely not a radioshack item! This item is pretty hard to find I have lots of lasers and other unique stuff for sale this week.
