So, here's the story: I am an architect. I designed a renovation for the condominium that had this hoist in the master bedroom ceiling. I have seen this hoist in good working order while it was installed in the condo unit. The hoist was obviously taken down for the renovation and was given to me.  I do not know how to make it work. It requires some electrical configuration/knowhow.  If you have mechanical or electrical knowledge, this hoist is an incredible bargain. I have looked up the pricing on these, and they go for $2000 or more.  The joystick is a controlled chief Corp. device. Columbia winch and hoilst model H2000–1A25–L–01 serial number 608-1101. 2,000 pound bare drum Lincoln motors catalog number LM30933 model number C42D25NC28 RPM 2500 three-quarter horsepower 110 V Frame and S480Z torque 18.9
