Fully Electric Hill-Rom 840 Century series Hospital Bed The 840 Century series Hill-Rom hospital bed is considered by many to be one of the preeminent hospital bed models. It is widely recognized and sought-after by health-care providers and is featured in many of the largest hospitals.Some of these hospitals are being forced to liquidate their supply of 840s as a consequence of recent legislation. In order to meet new code, many of the bigger hospitals must purchase beds that can stand fully upright (90° to the floor) in order to help prevent back injury among nurses. As a result the Century 840 is now for sale to the public.The 840 is favored largely for its durability. It's simple and smart design, sturdy metal frame (no plastic, no springs) and tough drive motors have established the 840's reputation as an enduring workhorse. It is designed to withstand the continual use, abuse and rigors that beds are subjected to in a busy hospital. The mattress is just as important as the bed itself. Everyone's slept on a bad mattress and knows how uncomfortable it can be. We have some excellent quality foam mattresses available. Our foam mattresses having with gradated foam densities incorporated into their design, which help to reduce pressure sores.
