HP 8056A OPT. H01 FILTER SET Audio Real Time Analyzer AGILENT Altec Lansing -please see new note at end of DESCRIPTION- DESCRIPTION: HP 8056A AGILENT HP 8056A OPT. H01 FILTER SET This is an apparently rare piece and has the Altec Lansing logo imprinted on it. It is mentioned here in the Audio Engineering Handbook. It is similar to the HP 8050A, without an oscilloscope display. This 1/3 octave real time audio analyzer is an essential tool to measure loudspeaker and acoustic performance, typically utilizing subsequent equalizer adjustment. It's use can help improve acoustic gain and smoothing system frequency response/quality. A pink noise generator signal is fed into the amplified loudspeaker system. Then, typically, a calibrated measurement microphone is placed into an acoustic space. The microphone's signal must be amplified and is then sent to the HP 8056A input. The analyzer's output simultaneously displays audio ISO 1/3 octave bands. The HP 8056A X Y output feeds into an external X-Y oscilloscope display for viewing. NOTE added 5/24/16: The original end user of the HP 8056A supplied me today with the piece that he had been using with the HP 8056A, a Tektronix 624 Monitor X-Y display. It is also a 19" rack unit with 1/2 rack width for the the display. I will supply this item with the HP 8056A for an additional $50 and $25 shipping (it is heavy at about 45 lbs.) to be packed and shipped with the real time analyzer. Photos of the Tektronix 624 have been added to the bottom of this listing. CONDITION: The HP 8056A turns on and was bench checked electrically to work properly. See the last two photos for pink noise input, with the 8056A display on a oscilloscope. The fuse holder is cracked but still functional. Someone asked if all of the filter cards were in it, so there are photographs of the top of the unit with the cover off. Due to it's age, this item is sold As-Is. This item came from the inventory storage of a service organization specializing in professional audio/video equipment.
