This is pair of Intel PCMCIA FLASH memory cards with firmware version 2.04 for an HP / Agilent E8285A analyzer. This firmware enables newer E8285's to: operate below 800MHz - once flashed, coverage is 400kHz to 1GHz & 1.7GHz to 2.0GHz demodulate SSB signals demodulate AM signals modulate AM signals Check out the screen dumps with the feature changes highlighted in RED. Applying this firmware to a E8285A will remove the frequency limitations but calibration below 800MHz will not be correct. Because of this, some RF self tests will fail due to the lack of factory calibration data. As far as I am aware, once this firmware is loaded and applied, there is no going back to the original firmware version. I have not found a way to correct for the calibration factors at frequencies less than 800MHz but suspect it is a matter of updating EEPROM calibration data. This firmware updates the FLASH data stored on the Main processor, DSP processor, Cell Site 1 processor, Cell Site 2 processor & Protocol processor. The firmware upgrade is activated by inserting Card 1 into E8285A & turning the power on. The upgrade routine on Card 1 is loaded then on-screen prompts guide you through the firmware process.
