Product Description Humidity Measurement Is Critical For Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Humidity plays a critical role in achieving optimum Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in buildings. A certain level of relative humidity (RH) is not only required to assure human health a and comfort, but also to minimize the growth of microorganisms and the speed of chemical interactions in buildings. These organisms, along with the products of various chemical interactions, contribute to human sickness and discomfort in what is widely known as Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). As illustrated by the chart below, the optimum conditions to effectively minimize the risks to human health occur in the range of 40% to 60% RH at normal room temperatures. Although this is a slightly narrower range than the ASHRAE 62-1989 standard of 30% to 60%, maintaining an optimal RH level should help alleviate many of the health and comfort problems that exist in sealed office structures. HyCal's commitment to helping customers meet today’s demanding IAQ standards has resulted in a series of advanced transmitters that are accurate and affordable. The HHT Series represents a technology breakthrough in humidity and temperature sensing for the HVAC industry. A patented multi-layer humidity sensor architecture offers outstanding resistance to airborne contaminants. The sensor’s thermoset polymer sensing layers are processed at temperatures over 300°F and are highly inert, providing the greatest stability and chemical resistivity in the industry. As a result of HyCal's technology breakthrough, field calibration is now a thing of the past. The humidity sensor is calibrated in a controlled lab environment that is nearly impossible to duplicate in the field, where procedures used for calibrating relative humidity and temperature sensors in air conditioning systems are typically unreliable. Long term tests show that our CMOS integrated circuit humidity sensor is virtually drift-free, as is the HyCal platinum RTD utilized for temperature sensing and compensation. That's why the HHT-series doesn't incorporate on-board calibration adjustments for field calibration; they're no longer necessary for general HVAC applications. The HHT-S is an attractive wall mount unit that accurately measures RH in virtually any indoor environment. Offered in two base configurations, a standard RH transmitter with optional thermistor or RTD and a combination RH and temperature transmitter, the HHT-S is factory calibrated for easy installation and cost-effective performance. The HHT-S housing design permits excellent air flow, which minimizes self-heating effects. What's more, the highly accurate readings of HHT-S make it an obvious choice for humidity sensing and building control. The HHT-W Wide Range Transmitter Equipped with an advanced microprocessor, the HHT-W precisely matches the characteristics of the sensor to a wide range of RH and temperature values found in building control environments. Available as a humidity only or humidity + temperature transmitter, the HHT-W is packaged for duct, wall mount, OSA and remote probe applications. For applications where the unit will be exposed to weather, the (O4) version in a Nema 4 enclosure is recommended. HyCal's patented integrated circuit humidity sensor provides voltage conversion on the element, allowing the sensor on the remote probe to be mounted separately from the transmitter. For environments where the electronics may be exposed to condensation, ammonia, or chlorine, the remote probe or the wall mount in water resistant enclosure is recommended.
