This iconic machine has been described as a '37 lb. Swiss watch'  That's not a bad description of IBM's best ever typewriter.  Every machine has this plastic pulley that fails with age.When it fails, the machine is dead.  IBM stopped making parts long ago. An all metal pulley is now being made that will give long years of life to this iconic typewriter.  I'm a retired IBM tech. who specialized on Selectric since 1973. I decided to completely  rebuild this unit, built in 1976. It was stripped down to a shell, chemically bathed in solvent, showered in hot water, then air blown and dried in an oven. Worn parts were replaced and the new pulley was installed. Next the machine was re-lubed into mechanical perfection.  I have many long hours of labor in this machine. Every moving part in this unit is running like new. It even idles as quiet as a new machine.      I have enough confidence in this Selectric to offer to you a 100% warranty on all parts and labor for 120 days.  I live in Trevor Wisconsin and will repair this unit in my shop, while you wait, so you won't have to make a 2nd trip.       Yes, there are plenty of low priced IBM's for sale, but they don't store well sitting on a shelf for years.  These 'as is' units will haunt you with their poor health. Also, Selectric's don't ship well - one good bounce during transit will affect machine performance.  You'll need to pick up the machine here.   .  Sale includes an element, ribbons, owners book & a clean dust cover.      Contact me if you have any Selectric questions.  This rebuild took about 45 days.
