PROBLEM: Tripod knock-overs on jobsites are not uncommon, and often results in an instrument being damaged, and often destroyed. SOLUTION: As surveying instruments can cost up to several thousand dollars, the Instru-Gard device has been engineered to inexpensively protect a tripod or rover pole mounted instrument from directly contacting a ground or hard surface, and also substantially lessens the lateral shock of impact. The Instru-Gard will prevent or substantially mitigate damage to an instrument. Additionally, with its bright orange ring construction, the Instru-Gard provides greater visibility to the instrument set-up, and can also provide a shelf for small items during instrument use. MATERIALS & ENGINEERING: The Instru-Gard device is constructed of proprietary materials that include a special type of HDP for the disc and XL EXTRALIGHT® foam material for the one piece protective ring that is the result of the most advanced technological research and an exclusive production process. You can expect that the Instru-Gard will provide many years of instrument protection. USE: Installing and using the Instru-Gard is easy. Position the Instru-Gard between the top of your Tripod and AutoLevel and secure the fastening bolt. AFTER A KNOCK-OVER: While the Instru-Gard provides a great deal of protection, it is important to check the functionality and calibration of your level before continuation of work requiring its use. CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE IS EASY: It is critically important to select the right size Instru-Gard, depending on the instrument(s) you have, to ensure that the instrument is within the Instru-Gard protection envelope. Three sized are available. Select the right size by measuring the greatest lateral dimension (including any protrusions) from the center of the instrument. That dimension must be at least 1 1/2 inches less than the radius noted below for each of the Instru-Gard models. IG-10 (10” Diameter 5” Radius) $24.95 For most smaller automatic levels, remote robotic prism targets and smaller GPS rover receivers - Fits instruments up to 7 inches in diameter IG-13 (13” Diameter 6.5” Radius) $29.95 For most laser levels, large automatic levels, theodolites, total stations, GPS rovers - Fits instruments up to 10 inches in diameter IG-16 (16” Diameter 8” Radius) 39.95 Primarily for large laser levels and lasers where the instrument attachment is offset from the physical center of instrument. While protection is achieved under normal circumstances and in most cases, there is no way to guarantee that all damage can be prevented. For example, if the instrument were to impact a ground surface that had a protrusion, it is possible that the protection envelope can be compromised. Thus, due to the nature of this product, Instru-Gard warrants the device and its performance under normal circumstances, but Instru-Gard shall bear no responsibility for instrument damage. The extend of responsibility under warranty is limited to Instru-Gard device replacement only upon failure under normal use and conditions.
