Instruction Book Wico Magneto Type PR, by Wico Electric Co., originally published by Wico Electric Company, Springfield, Mass., July 1924. Reprinted in 1990s. 4 3/4 x 7 3/4 paperback, 25 pages. Please note that this book is a new reprint, not an original . Wico Electric Company began as the Witherbee Igniter Company, building quality ignition systems for stationary engines. Wico’s products were widely used on John Deere tractors, Case tractors, and Wisconsin engines. They were also used on a number of automobiles, and many other makes of stationary engines. Wico merged with Globe-Union in 1956, which in turn was acquired by Johnson Controls in 1978. Interesting side note, especially if you grew up on the north side of Chicago: Leo Durocher, manager of the Chicago Cubs from 1966 to 1972, worked as a mechanic at Wico in the 1920s. These are photocopies not up to my usual standards. I obtained them in an estate sales; I did not produce them myself. I believe they are an enlargement of the smaller Wico PR manual that has been on the market for a number of years. That makes the text a lot larger, and easier to read.
