It is new technology approved in 2004 to cross totally occluded arteries using RF ablation and waveform fiberoptic guidance to prevent artery puncture. It powers on and responds to the footswitch and controls but I am unable to test properly. I believe it works or can be made to work and I guarantee it will not be DOA. New cost for this system is $50,000+. The biomed label on the side of the console was good through 8/2011 so this system has been in use recently. On the back there is a label that reads "reconditioned" but I dont have a clue when that occured. Comes with the IntraLuminal Safe-Cross RF Generator Console, Planar Flat screen color monitor, GCX Stand, Herga Footswitch with all cables and power cords. Also comes with assembly instructions and a new "RF-OCR Spare Kit" with various cables, fuses, cleaning brushes and other fittings. Everything mounts to the rolling stand which is also equiped with two storage baskets. The "optical coherence reflectometry" guidance system allows physicians to monitor the proximity of the wall of the artery to avoid puncturing it; the radiofrequency energy automatically shuts off if the catheter comes too close to the artery wall. Once the guide wire has passed through the total occlusion, it can be treated with conventional angioplasty and stent devices. CONDITION Excellent cosmetic condition with nothing visibly missing or broken. I plugged it in and it powers on, lights up and passes all startup system checks. The monitor powers on and displays the working screen. A message is displayed "Press and Release Footswitch to Start". When I push the footswitch the message "Crossing wire not connected or not functional, insufficient signal" is displayed. I believe this is a normal message since I dont have a crossing wire to connect to the cable. The footswitch and all the cables look good. The stand is very nice and custom manufactured for this system. I have done no testing other than what I described above. AGE Approved for use in 2004 so at most 8 yrs old.
