The HDPE (high-density polyethylene) outer shell is lightweight (13.5 oz.) for comfort, impact resistant, and has a trim bill for a greater range of upward vision than a full brim or visor. The edge of the hat is shaped to form a rain trough (or gutter) that guides rainwater to drain off the bill, helping to reduce the amount of water running down the wearer's neck.
