SimNewB also has other features, such as interchangeable pupils with normal, blown, and constricted pupils, movement in all four limbs, limps, tones, spontaneous motion, and seizures. Additionally, there is a simulated patient monitor, which provides concise clinical feedback for physiological parameters and snapshots of 12 lead ECGs. Laerdal has designed an interactive simulator called SimNewB, in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics, to meet the training requirements of neonatal emergency medicine and resuscitation courses. This simulator has realistic newborn traits and provides life-like clinical feedback, making it an ideal training tool for neonatal care. Cardiac features include an extensive ECG library with rates from 0 вЂ“ 300bpm, ECG monitoring via a 3-lead monitor, and heart sounds synchronized with the ECG. Vascular access features consist of a patent, cuttable umbilicus with venous and arterial access for bolus or infusion, simulated blood flashback upon cannulation, and intraosseous access. Circulation features include heart sounds, umbilical and brachial pulse, blood pressure measured manually by auscultation of Korotkoff sounds, pulse palpation detected and logged, pulses synchronized with ECG output, and circumoral cyanosis. Sounds include vocal sounds such as grunt breathing, crying, hiccups, lung sounds like normal, stridor, pneumonia, heart sounds like normal, diastolic murmur, systolic murmur, and others. SimNewB offers a range of airway features, including anatomically accurate airway, ET tube insertion, oral and nasal intubation, LMA insertion, Sellick maneuver, positive-pressure ventilation, right mainstem intubation, suctioning, and gastric tube insertion. It also features breathing options with spontaneous breathing and variable rate, bilateral and unilateral chest rise and fall with mechanical ventilation, CO2 exhalation, normal, and abnormal breath sounds, pneumothorax. This simulator also includes a manikin, a compressor, a laptop, a BP cuff, blood in a bottle, four replacement pupils, an original rucksack, and downloadable software/manual from Laerdal's website. Please note that there is no extra monitor/laptop, only minor accessories available from the Laerdal website. The manikin is in mint condition.
