For sale is a large lot of IC sockets. These are NOS/vintage single-wipe sockets, commonly found on 1970's era homebrew computers (S-100, Apple 1, Apple 2, et c.). Some of them have missing or broken pins, but the majority appear to be intact -- you get to sort through them, these are AS-IS. While these sockets appear to be NOS, they should not be purchased for anything other than restoration of vintage computers or building reproduction boards (Apple 1 Mimeo boards, for example). Here's why: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY These are single-wipe tin plated sockets. That means the socket pins are a single bit of spring metal formed into a hook shape. This shape presses an inserted IC leg against the side of the plastic socket. Even when these were new, they were considered a cheap alternative to double-wipe or machine pin sockets. These single-wipe sockets were the cause of many reliability issues in early home computers. As such, these sockets are being sold AS-IS with no warranty as to fitness for any purpose. You shouldn't be using them for new work, or projects that don't demand authentic, low-performance, vintage sockets. DON'T SKIP THE ABOVE WARNING There's a mix of socket sizes ranging from 14 pin 300 mil DIPs to 40 pin 600 mil DIPs. The second picture is of several sockets pulled at random from the pile. As mentioned, some sockets may have bent/broken/missing pins, but the majority appear to be intact. There's a mix of colors and manufacturers, but the majority are black low-profile sockets with an "A" cast into one of the cross supports. Shipping will be via USPS First Class or Priority Mail.
