Ideal Tuff-Grip Pro Fish Tape With Speed Grip This Is The Laser Foot-Marked Version Built In The United States of America Perfect Fish Tape For Wire & Cable Pulling! 120 Foot 1/8" Wide by 0.060" thick Rust Resistant Blued Steel Tensile Strength is 1600 pounds!! Ideal has been making tools for the electrical trade since 1916. The founder's philosophy was to provide "value greater than the price paid". They make good stuff! This fish tape was built in the USA. This fish tape has the best combination of features for wire and cable pulling: The handle is Ideal's Speed*Grip which is fantastic when wearing gloves or using it with bare hands. The case is high impact, as is the handle. I have dropped these from ladders & catwalks more times than I'd like to admit. The case & handle stay strong even when frozen. The tape never binds when the case is cold. This tape's tag is marked 120' and 40m. (Forty meters is just over 131 feet.) The tape is tempered to have spring qualities. This makes retrieval easier, as well as being more kink-resistant. The tape ribbon is Rust Resistant Blued Steel. Why blued steel? Blue steel is more compliant & flexible than stainless steel. It makes pushing and pulling much easier than with stainless. Blue steel will not become brittle with use & shatter like stainless steel can. This tape is far stronger than nylon fishing tools. Also note that is is very difficult to send a nylon tape through conduit bends. It bunches up. Blue steel is happy to complete the task- Even at 120 feet! Blue Steel will not be harmed by wire pulling lubricants. Some of these weaken nylon tapes and pit stainless steel. The tape, case & handle system make playing out & retrieving super simple. There is virtually no drag & the handle has a built in guide. The fish tape is laser marked for distance. I love this feature! This makes pre-cutting wire lengths a simple task when installing multiple conductors from one spool. (Who carries 20 spools of #2 at today's prices? Not me!) You canjust look at the mark on the tape & see how long the run is. You sure can't pace it off, especially if there are buried "S" loops for expansion. The laser markings stay legible forever & will not wipe off. Unsolicited Editorial Opinion- I have been in the trade for over 40 years. Ideal is my go-to for wire pulling tools. I continue to use some that are well over 30 years old. Still going strong! These laser distance marked Pro tapes, coupled with the Speed*Grip, are- well- "Ideal" for the job. How To Protect Your New Fish Tape- Although this tape is rust resistant, there are a few pointers that will make it last virtually forever. When first using a new tape, I'll wipe a very light coat of wax based wire lube or car wax on the tape. Simple & lasts a long time. This step is probably not necessary with the steel in this Tuff-Grip tape, but it can't hurt. Dry it when you're done pulling in wet, underground raceways. I use a cloth or dry glove while I retrieve the tape. If you can't get it dry, simply spray some water displacement lubricant, such as WD-40 into the openings in the case. Plan B is to leave it uncoiled when done until it dries. Work Safely- Don't use it when conductors in the raceway are energized or aim for an energized component. You may short circuit the tape, which will quickly destroy it. (And you probably will be quite damaged as well!) Shipping- The shipping calculator has some choices.
