Product Features L.E.D. Fiberoptic Otoscope - OPHTHALMOSCOPE Diagnostic Kit with Case! Superbly-crafted from chrome plated brass which is both beautiful as well as durable Luer-Lock mount guaranteed to never wear out High quality at the low prices! Large optical quality glass lens with balanced handle Why You'll Love It You need never contend with a burned-out otoscope bulb again! Prepare to be amazed at the clear, bright, unobstructed view it provides, using an LED Fiberoptic light source. Why LED? The energy efficiency and durability of this otoscope is unmatched especially when compare to Halogen light sources. The LED light source has no filament to break like a conventional incandescent powered otoscope. The LED bulb is shock resistant unlike halogen which is incandescent and contains a fragile filament.. You will be amazed by the amount of light created by the LED bulb. The light produced by this otoscope is full spectrum white light and not the yellow light typically created by incandescent light bulbs on other otoscopes. With a light emitting diode there is no fragile filament to break so it can withstand repeated dropping or rough handling. The halogen bulbs found on other otoscopes burn very hot and eat battery power, they are also somewhat fragile, and can be broken when the otoscope is dropped or handled in any rough manner. The special halogen bulbs in some premier otoscopes cost up to forty dollars each, and aside from failing when dropped, they burn out after a time, just from ordinary usage. The professional model ophthalmoscope is of excellent quality and gives a very clear picture of the retina. It contains a complete set of lens from -25 to +40 diopters. The lens also contain a polarized filter which reduces corneal reflection. Our Ophthalmoscope uses a halogen light for true tissue color and consistent, long-lasting illumination. You will be impressed with the functionality of this very well designed and manufactured ophthalmoscope. This review is from: L.E.D. Fiberoptic Otoscope - OPHTHALMOSCOPE Diagnostic Kit with Zippered Leatherette Case! (Health and Beauty) "I am a nurse practitioner student, and we were advised to purchase an otoscope/ophthalmoscope diagnostic set for practice. I knew that I did not want to spend a fortune, as I would have access to more expensive models in the clinic, and being in NP school is a huge enough expense as it is. That being said, I am very happy with my purchase! I can clearly see the tympanic membrane and landmarks with the otoscope, and the light is both adjustable but capable of being very bright. Previously, I did not have any experience with using an ophthalmoscope, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I have been satisfied with the quality of the ophthalmoscope head. With a little reading in my assessment book on how to conduct a fundal exam, I can easily see the retinal fundus, optic disc, and blood vessels. I do not have any experience with the Welch Allyn equipment, but I would assume that if I can see easily with this Pro-Physician set, I should be able to see just as well or better with the WA. The handle is a little heavy because of the C batteries, but I do not find this a problem. I can easily put the entire case into my lab coat pocket. I ordered the disposable specula from the company's website and received 100 for $8 with free shipping. I like the ease of interchanging oto/ophthal heads, and the luer-lock system is sturdy. The light is very bright as well, and I like that it is adjustable brightness. Yes, it is not a $700 set from WA, but I am very pleased with it, and it suits my needs perfectly without breaking the bank. The customer service of the company is excellent! Originally, the first ophthalmoscope head eye piece seemed to have dust or something in it, making it more difficult to see through (especially at the borders) for the fundoscopic exam. I contacted customer service and they sent out a replacement ophthalmoscope head right away. And in my error, I accidentally ordered duplicate disposable specula. Dr. Jim and customer service were quick to refund my money, while allowing me to keep the additional sleeve of specula, even though it was my mistake. Bottom line, if you are looking for an inexpensive set to practice your skills or to keep handy if a neighbor needs assistance, this is a great set and a good bargain. I would not expect an equivalent of a $700+ Welch Allyn set, but this one definitely does the job. I am also happy to recommend this company as they strive to keep their customers happy. " 5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Parents!, December 7, 2008 By  Just Anonymous (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: L.E.D. Fiberoptic Otoscope - OPHTHALMOSCOPE Diagnostic Kit with Zippered Leatherette Case! (Health and Beauty) I bought this because I have a little girl and I wanted an otoscope to look in her ear. The Ophtalmoscope was a secondary nice to have item. I purchased the LED version of the otoscope because I really never wanted to have to worry about bulbs or batteries. I just wanted something that worked whenever I thought that my little girl was coming down with an ear infection. Its really hard to tell with little kids. If you mention "ear" they will immediately start pulling and tugging and if you don't ask, your kid can wind up with a serious eye infection and you might not know. I decided to be on the safe side and get an otoscope. I read about 2.5v and 3.2v halogen otoscopes and with the 3.2 being the brighter of the two. But I read that bulbs do burn out and that you have to be very gentle with them. Also some of the true professional models tend to be very pricey for what I needed. I opted for the LED version. This one came nicely packaged and arrived very quickly - two days after I ordered from Pro Physician Diagnostics. I always worry about ordering from third party companies and prefer direct from Amazon but Pro Physician Diagnotics did very well. They sent me an e-mail confirming order and a tracking number when they shipped and the product was in my mailbox two days later. Great service. The other concern I had was with how bright the LED light would be. I must say that the light is very bright. I can see anything very well with it. A nice plus is that the light is dimmable you can go from little light to max light in gradual increment which is very nice. The item also has a glass 4x magnifier to the otoscope which is nice. the lens can be swing out of the way if you want to look without magnification or if you want to clean the lens. I wound up having to use the opthalmoscope to look at a tooth that my daughter was complaining about. The light was bright and it worked nicely. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you for having this and for making it affordable enough for a concerned parent to have. That said, I don't feel comfortable practicing medicine with my child or anyone so if I see anything that I don't understand or if I don't understand anything I see, off to the doctor she goes but it does help to make that difficult call or to avoid false alarms. I'm also not a doctor so can't compare to the true high end and high cost models but for looking in someone's ear or mouth this seems great.
