Vintage, new in original packages (sealed, unless it will be opened by postal office / border crossing) 2 packages of metal type from The New England Type Foundry - Meridian, Conn. 06450 - #96 - 36 pt. – 2 pkgs of CAPS I originally purchased this type to use with hot foil stamping and later wanting to find out more about the type and letterpress printing, I found that there is quite an interesting history! Unfortunately it has come time to start unloading some with hopes that it will find a good home! From the book, American Metal Typefaces of the Twentieth Century by MAC McGrew, 1993 Oak Knoll Books: "The Kelsey Company, which extensively supplied hobby printers, offered many faces (indicated by an asterisk) which were cast by American Type Founders, but renamed and sometimes repackaged in small fonts by Kelsey;..." The Kelsey Company used a numbering system for their letterpress type as shown on the packages: #96 - 36 pt. - New England Type (Kelsey) name is SANS CONDENSED, authentic name is ALTERNATE GOTHIC Pictures have been enlarged.
