Up for auction is this group of 18 two-inch wood type letters, all caps, with three pieces of punctuation and the catch-word FOR. Surfaces are in pretty good shape, but there is a hairline crack in the W, and a doughnut hole has been cut out of the O. Also, one of the Cs was originally a G. There are no manufacturer's marks. The set also contains a cents symbol which seems to be rather rare in wood-type form. This appears to be a roman old-style type, looking at the wedge-shaped splayed-out serifs, but I wasn't able to find a true example in the Kelly book or any of the older wood-type specimen catalogs. In particular, I was never able to find an example of a C with the rounded lower part similar to this one, so any and all questions or comments are welcomed. The type will be double-boxed, packed with care and shipped in a USPS medium flat-rate box. No international shipping, please. Thanks for looking.
