This Tool post and holders are new have been on a shelf for several years. There is no rust or any form of cosmetic damage. I did not have the original  5-40 x 3/8 SHCS which have a .030 wide slot that contains a piece of bent spring steel to maintain friction on the tool height adjusting thumb nuts.I replaced them with standard screws and used silicon for the friction feature. It works fine. NOTE! This tool post is designed to fit Levin slides . The "T" top slots should be only 1/4 to 5/16 wide with at top lip maximum thickness of 5/32.  s
