Leybold Heraeus Ultratest F Helium Leak Detector   For sale- a Leybold Heraeus Ultratest F Helium Leak Detector.  There are several of these currently available, but this is the only one with the upper console as pictured.  That houses both an Ultratest Module FB AND a Turbotronik NT 150/360 which I assume to be the power supply/controller for the turbo pump (and which looks like it changes hands for about $600 on a regular basis all by itself).  And for better or worse I am the only one that seems to realize that the hour meters are there for a reason, kind of like the odometer on a car.  And that to me is a little weird, the Turbotronic piece shows 21,566 hours while the Ultratest Module MS in the lower body of the unit only shows 12,839.  Maybe one or the other is a transplant from a donor machine?   The main AC power plug for this thing is a 30 amp 110VAC twist lock, so potentially I could power it up but not actually operate it, as I don’t have access to 30 amp service at that voltage (who does?).  As you can see there are two L-H Trivac rotary vane roughing pumps installed (unlike one of the other current listings); I will see if it is possible to at least power those up outside of the system.  But I know that the roughing pumps ought to be running to spool up the turbo, assuming the turbo wants to spool.  And just guessing there is probably an interlock to keep the turbo offline until the roughing pumps rough.   So I don’t want to waste a lot of time trying to test something I know almost nothing about, which of course presumes that I am in a position to just plug it in, which I am not.  And I think, given the vintage, that you would have to assume that service is going to be required on at least some part of the system.  Please budget for some repairs and then hopefully be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t need any.  Someone took the time to cap the input opening with aluminum foil, I would think that would be a positive sign.  Normally I would list something like this as USED because for all I know you might plug it in and everything works.  But the other listings for the same piece are all For Parts or Not Working, and since I don’t have any way of knowing if it will work I think calling it used might create unwarranted expectations.   Currently completely untested, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.  However, IF you pay the asking price and find it has a problem you cannot live with within 14 days of receipt you may return it.  Returns are ONLY allowed on Buy It Now Purchases.  Accepted Best Offers are strictly an as is sale, no returns allowed.  Return would be for a refund of the purchase price, not including shipping costs, which may be substantial.   Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.  As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain degree of risk.  If you Buy It Now your risk is limited to the shipping costs both ways.  If you submit an offer you do so knowing that you cannot return it.  In either case it is up to you to decide whether the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.   One nice thing about having the two modules mounted atop the unit as opposed to trying to buy them separately, as you can see, the connecting cables are included and sometimes that’s half the battle.  Also as you can see the unit does NOT have whatever side panels might have originally been installed, but I would assume that to be purely a cosmetic issue.  Please check out my other listings for more interesting lab, test, and optical equipment.  Check back often!   Sold as is, as described, as pictured.  Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.  Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am now required to select from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.  If the functional condition of the item is known it will be stated as such in the listing.  Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.   You are also encouraged to visit my “ME” page, where my terms, conditions, and philosophy of doing business are outlined.  I don’t think anything there is outside the bounds of normal e-commerce, but they are binding on the transaction.   Shipping will be motor freight on a pallet unless you would like to come pick it up.  I would estimate the shipping weight at around 450 pounds.  I would estimate the freight cost for that at between $250 and $600 to the east and west coast respectively.  Residential deliveries, deliveries that require liftgates, deliveries to the boonies, and deliveries to schools or universities will all be more because it takes longer for the carrier to get the job done.  Shipping will be via Old Dominion Freight Lines, which has done a consistently good job getting my shipments where they are going without roughing them up.  I will be happy to quote you for the shipment, but I need to know the zip code, residential or commercial, and whether a lift gate will be required.   If you would prefer to use another carrier that’s fine.  It will be shipping from a warehouse with a loading dock in zip code 23093, but I do not live there!  I require pickup confirmation the day before and your carrier must provide an emailed printable copy of the Bill of Lading so that there is paperwork available for the driver to sign when he gets there.  The BOL should have all the info filled out when I receive it, blank copies are unacceptable.   PLEASE NOTE: the government agency that sent this to surplus has deemed it to be export controlled, so not only will I NOT ship it internationally, if you are buying it to refurbish and resell you would need to find a domestic US buyer for it only.  I will need a written confirmation that you understand it is not for export (no matter how ridiculous that might seem) before I can ship it. Please read the listing carefully. Appears to be complete and nothing is obviously broken, but it requires a 110VAC 30 AMP service that i do not have access to. So it is thus far completely untested unless you see an update posted to the body of the listing.
